This wraps up our month-long trip to Oceania! We spent the last few days doing a mix of city and nature activities.
Australia Days 9-12: Melbourne and Sydney
New Zealand Days 12-16: Franz Josef, Arthur’s Pass, and Christchurch
It’s time to wrap up our 16-day trip to New Zealand! We spent our last few days driving, making the most of some bad weather, and getting in short hikes during the good weather.
New Zealand Days 8-9: Te Anau and Fiordland National Park
Following our two days at Wanaka, we drove to the small town Te Anau, known as the “Gateway to Fiordland.” We took a glowworm caves tour in Te Anau the first day and spent the second day exploring Fiordland National Park.
New Zealand Days 6-7: Wanaka
After our full day of hiking in Aoraki / Mount Cook, we were ready for… more hiking! We spent 2 days in Wanaka exhausting ourselves in pursuit of gorgeous views.
New Zealand Days 4-5: Twizel and Mount Cook
After a wonderful day in Lake Tekapo, we continued our New Zealand adventure by driving to Twizel. This is a small town a little under an hour away from Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. We had planned to spend both Wednesday and Thursday hiking at Mt. Cook, but unfortunately on Wednesday it was raining heavily. We opted to spend our rainy day taking a “foodie tour” of Twizel and condense our hiking plans into one day on Thursday.
